Since 1964, I have been a collector, researcher, writer and publisher of several catalogs about the financial instruments of Southeast Asia.
My first visit to Southeast Asia was when the Army assigned me to Saigon in January 1966, where I worked for MACV J2 (Intelligence). My first tour ended in August 1970, and I returned in December 1971 to assist in standing down Army aviation units until the mission was completed in January 1973.
During these two tours, I visited Singapore and Bangkok where I often had the time to purchase books about the region and the financial instruments described in them.
After the war, I came back to the region in 1989 and have been returning almost every year for one to three months at a time to continue my research and collecting, and establishing contacts with many locals who share my interests.
