Warren Woessner

Warren Woessner grew up in a small farm town in "South Jersey." After studying creative writing with James McConkey and A.R. Ammons at Cornell University, he moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 1966, where he co-founded Abraxas magazine and WORT-FM. He received a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Woessner lived in New York City in the early 1980's and was a member of the Poetry Board of St. Clement's Church. He is an avid birder and has visited Alaska 8 times.

Woessner's poetry has been widely published and anthologized, including in periodicals and reviews, including Poetry, Poetry Northwest, the Nation, 5 AM, Nimrod, Midwest Quarterly and The Beloit Pooetry Journal. He has received Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Wisconsin Arts Board and the McKnight Foundation. He won the Minnesota Voices Competition sponsored by New Rivers Press is 1986.He lives in Minneapolis and Edgartown, MA with his wife, Iris Freeman and works as a biotechnology patent attorney.
