Nan Hawthorne wrote her first short story at seven, when many other children hve not quite mastered reading yet. In her early teens she and a friend met at a weeklong camp started writing the stories that would lead to Hawthorne's first novel, "An Involuntary King: A Tale of Anglo Saxon England" published in 2008. Hawthorne's writing career was already established by this time, with literally hundreds of articles published on topics such as disabilities, employment, small business, arts and crafts, and nonprofit management. Her first book, "Loving the Goddess Within: Sex magick for Women", was published in 1992. Hawthorne is legally blind but "cannot sit still long enough to let that slow me down." She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and their doted-upon cats, where she spends her time writing new novels, researching early medieval England, and supporting the indie book publishing industry and authors.
