David Wheeler

David Wheeler is the author of the 2011 Rivergate Books title, Wild New Jersey: Nature Adventures in the Garden State, which has received glowing reviews from media critics and personalities alike. Wheeler spent a year criss-crossing the state in search of its outdoor thrills. The book was nominated for the 2011 Outdoor Book Awards, and was selected by Rutgers University Press to grace the cover of their 2011 catalog.

Wheeler is in the midst of a barnstorming 75-date "Wild New Jersey Road Trip" to promote the book at venues such as New Jersey's Forum Theatre, Liberty Science Center, the Lines on the Pines Festival, Jenkinson's Aquarium, the Noyes Museum of Art, New Jersey Audubon's Cape MayGration, the Wetlands Institute, Tuckerton Seaport, and Rutgers Day.

The author previously wrote an environmental and nature column for the Star Ledger, and has written freelance entertainment and recreation stories for The (Bergen) Record, Asbury Park Press, Home News Tribune, Change.org, Courier News, New Jersey Newsroom, Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Blog, and E the Environmental Magazine.

Wheeler founded the award-winning daily nature blog, WildNewJersey.tv, in 2008. The blog and its social media network have reached over half a million readers. Wheeler also is a lecturer for a Rutgers University environmental communications course.

Wheeler earned an M.B.A. in marketing from Stern School of Business at New York University. He holds a B.A. in public communications and literature from American University in Washington, D.C.
