Dr Joseph Hegarty has 25+ years as a professional manager with the most innovative organisations including, international and local hotels in management/proprietorship, a full academic career in professional vocational & higher education institutions in Europe,(Ireland, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, UK and Germany) & with ILO/UNDP in (Indonesia, Nigeria, Nepal, Fiji, Seychelles) with EU in Uganda and as a published hospitality & culinary education researcher. He is highly focused on developing solutions, building team capacity and achieving high quality outcomes that are innovative and engaging for all stakeholders. Also, he has Strong consultancy skills gained in a multiple project environments, including analysis, interpretation and workshop facilitation, as required, along with a willingness to work in dynamic and diverse teams. He extends himself to all the stakeholders affected by the project - the individual, the business owner/education directors, managers, and industry associations who are interested in real world, practical educational solutions.
He is passionate, motivated and committed to the project in hand, a leader, an education and training quality assurance specialist, curriculum developer, hard worker, author and editor, and committed to creating and developing opportunities for lifelong learning.
He is Past Treasurer/President/Chairman of EuroCHRIE 1996-2000; Director-at-Large CHRIE International 1999-2000; Past Vice-President Association Mondiale pour la Formation Hoteliere et Touristique (AMFORHT) 1998-2001
Fellow of the Irish Hotel and Catering Institute (1994); Lifetime member of International Institute for Quality and Ethics in Service and Tourism (IIQEST) (since 1992) and Member of the Board of Senior Associates at International Washington-based Tourism Policy,Forum (1989)
He holds a Doctoral Degree in Education from University of Sheffield. A Masters Degree in Education from Trinity College Dublin and a Diploma in Hotel Management from Shannon College of Hotel Management.
