I have been writing and illustrating walking guides since his first book was published in 1973 to The Cotswold Way. That guide was created with the direct encouragement of my mentor Alfred Wainwright, with whom I walked for several years in the 1970s. Now 53 years later after completing guides to Hadrian's Wall and the eight volume 'Fellranger' series "Walking the Lake District Fells - All the Fells, All the Routes". Cicerone are set to publish the large format "Best Walks in the Lake District, 50 great mountain days" this coming summer 2026.
