I'm a psychologist and have worked in a variety of settings, including public and private schools, community mental health centers, and private practice. I have taught graduate courses in assessment, psychotherapy, and family therapy at Dominican College of California and at San Francisco State University.
I've worked in the area of special education as a psychologist and special eucation director and have written a series of five non-fiction books, focused upon special education topics, to support special education teachers, administrators, staff, and parents.
I've always been a reader and most of books I'm drawn to involve crimes and criminals. I suppose my interest in the dark side of life has some basis in my work as a psychotherapist and my own psyche. I believe that people are complicated, sometimes contradictory, and that things are not always what they seem. With those thoughts in mind; I decided to try my hand at writing fiction.
My first novel, M'NAGTHEN'S RULES, is inspired by a true story and takes place in England in 1843. Daniel M'Nagthen believes the government has sent agents to harm him. To put an end his troubles, he decides to assassinate the Prime Minister, but kills the wrong man. His trial, and the surprising outcome, sparked a controversay about criminal insanity that continues to this day.
My second novel, BACK TO SCHOOL, takes place in San Francisco and introduces Dr. Jonah Fine, a psychologist assigned to work at the high school that he attended twenty years earler. Nadia, a stunning Ukrainian exchange student, tells Jonah she's been sexually harassed by a teacher and asks for his help. She suddenly disappears and Jonah is determined to find her. He learns that she has a secret life; a discovery that places his life in danger.
