Gretchen Stringer-Robinson

Gretchen Stringer-Robinson was born to a large family on Folly Beach, S.C. Her childhood was filled with crabbing, swimming, and blackberry-picking. Now an on-line history teacher and writer, Gretchen lives on Wadmalaw Island, S.C. with her husband, Ed.

Prior to this, she worked over 30 years as a paralegal. Those skills, together with the study of history, have honed her critical thinking, giving her a unique insight into facts and fiction. She has written both.

"A Brief History of Folly Beach, S.C." published by The History Press/Arcadia, offers both an overview and in-depth look into Folly Beach from its early days to present. It includes various people, places, and eras. In the past there have been issues with incorrect e-books being sent. Please complain to Amazon if they send you a book set in the 1950s on Folly. That is not "A Brief History of Folly Beach, S.C."

"This Small Violet" is a work of historical fiction and combines the elements of a well-loved work of fiction with historical fact to create a window on life in Victorian London, and the effect one man's actions can have on the arc of history. It combines historical fact as a backdrop to the inner workings of the characters.
