John Avant

John Avant completed his undergraduate degrees at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. John went on to earn a Masters of Divinity and a Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. It was at Southwestern that John learned about spiritual awakening and revival. He believes our nation's only hope is to experience a mighty movement of God. John has pastored in Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and Tennessee. While he was pastoring Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas, the Lord began a revival that spread to over one hundred college campuses, including Wheaton College. John also served as Vice President of Evangelism and Spiritual Awakening at the North American Mission Board. John has had the privilege of sharing the love of Christ and supporting missionaries all over the world. He has a passion to see the recent, unprecedented move of God that many overseas countries are experiencing come to America. John serves as President of Life Action, inspiring people to say yes to God. John and his wife Donna live in Knoxville, Tennessee, and have three married children and six grandchildren. On a day off, you are likely to find them hiking the Smoky Mountains or swimming with their grandchildren. Or you might find John scuba diving or playing golf.
