Veronica McGivney

I spent most of my childhood in a small seaside resort on the Isle of Wight where my mother ran a guesthouse for holidaymakers during the summer months.

At school my main claims to fame were producing caricatures of the teaching staff and persistent truanting. Despite this, I went on to pursue an academic career as a lecturer and research fellow in several universities and at the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education.

After writing academic books and reports, it has been a relief to turn to the freedom of writing fiction – something I have wanted to do since my earliest childhood. Aftermath of a Murder was my debut novel after which I published two others, Inheritors of the New Kingdom and A Reluctant Hero. All have now been recorded as audio books. In 2017 I published a collection of short stories, some of which have been short-listed in national short story competitions.

I have three adult children and live in Brighton where I spend much of my time reading, writing, painting and playing tennis.
