K. Daniel Wong

K. Daniel Wong (Ph.D., Stanford, 1998) has actively participated in the explosive growth of the wireless Internet over the past dozen years, both in industry (Telcordia Technologies, New Jersey) and academia (Malaysia University of Science and Technology). He was one of the members of IEEE Communication Society's Practice Analysis Task Force (PATF) that helped to create the Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies (WCET) certification program for wireless engineers. In a memorable 2 days of furious debates and gentle persuasion, the PATF went from having nothing to producing a detailed draft of the delineation of wireless related topics in 7 areas, that was later to become the IEEE WCET exam specifications.

Dr. Wong currently consults, writes, teaches short courses, primarily through Daniel Wireless LLC (http://www.danielwireless.com). He also leads business strategy and marketing efforts at organizations like 3G Infocom Training (M) Sdn Bhd. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Malaysia University of Science and Technology. Dr. Wong's publications have won 3 Best Paper awards, and he has received the Telcordia CEO Award, G. David Forney Jr. prize from Princeton University, and The Outstanding Young Malaysian (in Science and Technology) in 2007.
