David Gee

DAVID GEE is a pen-name of British author David Helsdon. He grew up in the market town of Hailsham, Sussex, and was educated in Lewes (high school) and Birmingham (university). He has worked in London and the Persian Gulf and traveled extensively in Europe and the United States.

His first published novel was under the pen-name of David Godolphin: FLORENCE OF ARABIA (1998), a comedy about regime change on an island in the Gulf. His most recent novel as David Godolphin is SOAP-STUD & BLUE-MOVIE GIRL (2022), set in an ‘alternative’ 1990s Hollywood; a sequel, HOWL AND THE PUSSY-KAT, is undergoing a final edit.

As David Gee he has published four novels: SHAIKH-DOWN (a 2009 revision of FLORENCE OF ARABIA), THE DROPOUT (2012), THE BEXHILL MISSILE CRISIS (2014) and LILLIAN AND THE ITALIANS (2021).

David now lives back in Sussex on the South Downs outside Brighton. He is currently writing a sequel to LILLIAN AND THE ITALIANS, set in 1960s Spain.
