After years living in London*, I moved to a smallholding in Herefordshire, very near where I grew up. Herefordshire is a county of many leylines, misty valleys and apple orchards. Now, instead of slogging into work on the Tube, I keep sheep and chickens, cultivate my own orchard, veg plot and herb garden and generally spend a lot of time covered in mud. My latest project has been to create a Garden of the Elements with a cosmic spiral at its centre.
I also write books and have been lucky to have several published since I moved here, including The Witch's Yearbook, The Magic of Seeds and Beyond the Footpath, all of which are on Amazon. Most recently (March 2025), the first three books in a great little series The Little Wild Library were published (three more will follow in September). These pocket-sized guides to foraging include recipes and makes; the first three titles are Nettle, Clover and Dandelion.
In April, my next book The Water Remedy comes out. This is dive (hah!) into the folklore and wisdom of water in all its natural forms, including holy wells, waterfalls, magical lakes and rivers. It includes personal accounts of my ramblings to lakes and wells, as well as recommendations of places to visit, watery myths and legends, and the odd ritual.
Then in June, The Witch's Shadow Work Oracle Deck is published. Beautifully illustrated by Tijana Lukovic, it brings together Jungian psychology, fairytales and folklore to guide you to discover the magic and power of your shadow self.
* In my previous life, I was a magazine editor and I continue to write about British travel, homes, gardens and lifestyle for various publications including The Guardian, Observer, Which? Travel and many others.
