Dan G. Johnson

Born and reared on a 5th generation farm in central Ohio, I followed God's call to become a minister. I received a B.A. from Asbury College in 1970, an M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1973, and a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1985. Along the way, I studied at the University of Tubingen, Germany on a one year World Council of Churches scholarship. I have served in United Methodist churches since 1974 spending the last 15 years as the Senior Minister of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Florida, which relocated during my tenure to a site of 67 acres. As the church membership at Trinity has grown, I have overseen the building of an entire worship center & educational complex at a new location, a youth building, memorial garden, chapel, sports complex, and, most recently, the expansion of the nursery facilities and the adult education space.

I am a John Wesley Scholar, a past dean of the Florida Conference School of Ministry, current chair of the Asbury Theological Seminary Board of Trustees, past president of the Florida Conference Council on Finance and Administration, and current member of the Board of Directors at the North Florida Retirement Village.

I often serve as a speaker during Bible study conferences and for the past year have written a Daily Scripture Email on the Book of Matthew to our congregation and beyond as it is forwarded to various parts of the world. Married to my college sweetheart, we have two children and five grandchildren.
