Michael Evans

I have always been a writer and while I was a Boy Scout I established and edited a magazine for my troop.

I trained as a teacher in London and I first began to earn money from writing shortly after beginning my teaching career in Hertfordshire. I later spent a number of years as a primary school headteacher where I continued to write books and magazine articles before taking early retirement to spend more time writing.

Two years later, by which time my wife had also taken early retirement, we decided to fulfil our dream of establishing our own school. We successfully ran this for 13 years until it was purchased by a prestigious Cambridge Educational Foundation.

My particular specialist areas iclude: Educational Curriculum; Educational Management; Health and Safety; Environmental Topics; Tavel; and Military History. My research skills are good and I am well able to write useful material on a wide range of topics. I always meet my deadlines.

I have been a featured writer for online newspapers on environmental, historical and travel topics and for more than 30 years was a regular contributor to the educational content of Croner's online publications. Latterly I was Associate Editor of its online educational portal.

Published books have included: "RAF Duxford", and "Douglas Bader", both from the Heroes of the RAF series, "Today's the Day", a month-by-month guide to International Commemorative Days" and "A Rather Strange Retirement", telling the story of the 13 years of running our small independent school.

In July 2025 "East Anglia at War" was published. This is a revised and expanded edition of a title that was first published to some critical acclaim in May 2015, but has long been out of print. This new edition is available both as a paperback and by Kindle.

I am a member of the Education Writers Group of the Society of Authors, the London Press Club, and I am a Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists.
