Paul O'Brien is originally from Ireland but has been living in Italy since 1994. He graduated in Italian and History of the Biblical World from Trinity College Dublin, where he also obtained a PhD in Modern European History with a thesis on Mussolini in the First World War. This was subsequently published as a book by Berg.
