Georgia Scott is an award-winning journalist, author, and global storyteller whose work has taken her across 56 countries and into the heart of conversations that matter. A proud graduate of Grambling State University — the HBCU that launched her career as an editorial art director, graphic designer, writer, and editor — Georgia has spent decades using words to connect people, challenge assumptions and spark meaningful dialogue.

Her byline has appeared at some of the world's most prestigious publications, including The New York Times, where she worked as an art director and graphic artist 15 years, and Essence, for which she was one of the magazine’s first online bloggers. Her editorial and page design reach has extended far beyond American borders, with The International Herald Tribune, magazine work in Seoul, South Korea, and contributions to the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA). She currently serves as Senior Copywriter and Editorial Manager at PracticeLink.

Georgia is the author of two groundbreaking nonfiction works. Headwraps: A Global Journey explores the rich cultural and historical significance of one of the world's most universal and symbolic garments. Down There: Narratives About the Joy, Aroma and Overall Existence of the Bush — now in its fourth edition — is a testament to her fearless commitment to tackling subjects that others shy away from. Her children's books, including How Langston Leaf Delayed Winter, Everyday Hugs, Good Hugs – Bad Hugs, Stranger Danger, and Bubblegum – Bubblebum, reflect her deep belief that important conversations can be fun and should begin early.

A citizen of the world in every sense, Georgia has called Paris, Biarritz, Seoul, Honolulu, New York, Atlanta and Grambling, Louisiana home at various points in her life. That global perspective infuses everything she writes — whether crafting picture books for children or narratives that challenge adults to examine the world differently.

A compelling public speaker with a history of tackling hard subjects, Georgia took the stage at SXSW 2019, drawing on her major newsroom experience, multicultural lens and storytelling instincts to engage audiences. Her passion lies at the intersection of identity, culture, and the conversations we need to have — but too often don't.
