As his life credo, Scott once wrote:
I believe life is for living and the human spirit is capable of amazing things if only one has the vision and courage to try. I believe life is difficult but one can best transcend its challenges with the right attitude. I believe attitude is the only thing we can truly control and mastering one's attitude is the secret to personal satisfaction. I believe in having a grand vision for one's life and imagination, creativity, dedication, patience, persistence and hard work are the means by which one's realizes their vision. I strive to transcend the status quo. I expect more for myself because I believe I deserve it. I loathe fear, ignorance, mediocrity and apathy. I believe the thing we call LIFE is part of a natural process that is not good nor evil, just natural or unnatural. I am certain there is more to life I do not understand than what I do, but I am comfortable with not knowing because the unknown makes me feel like I'm a part of something bigger than myself. I like not having all the answers and distrust those who claim to. I love the sense of mystery and adventure life's uncertainly brings. I feel most alive in wildness, outside the comfortable bubble of civilization. I am not afraid of death, but hope to die painlessly. I wish to die while doing something I love. I hope to die with time and presence of mind to express my gratitude for having had the chance to live in this world, at this time, with those I've known. And, above all else, to have made a positive difference along the way.
