David L. Harrison

David Harrison writes poetry, fiction, and nonfiction books, mostly for young readers and classroom teachers. He has had 110 books published and won dozens of awards, including Pioneer in Education and a Christopher Medal. He has served as Missouri Poet Laureate (7/23-9/25) and as Drury University Poet Laureate since 1983. He holds two degrees in science, two honorary doctorates of letters, and David Harrison Elementary School is named in his honor. He speaks at conferences, visits schools, and gives workshops.
