Chris Cantor born and schooled in Canterbury, England, trained in medicine in London before commencing psychiatric training in New Zealand. He undertook further training in Exeter, Devon (UK) near the setting of his novel, "Fisher of Souls." He completed his training in Brisbane, Australia and worked as a clinical and research psychiatrist, specialising in suicide prevention and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He wrote the world's first textbook on evolutionary theory and PTSD, which makes the condition much more understandable. He lives by the coast, enjoys watching the annual humpback whale migration and writes quirky Gothic fiction with contemporary social themes.
