Marlene's crabby third-grade teacher sent her and a classmate to the library of a Nebraska village to keep them busy and quiet. Her friend was assigned a report on Egypt. Marlene's report was Italy, and that's when she discovered Venice! She became a Italophile before she could pronounce the word. Through the years, the city's magic spell called to her and the seductive waters lured her back so often that all in all, she spent two years living in its watery embrace. Marlene can't live in Venice just now, so she writes about those who can. Meanwhile, she makes her home in Connecticut. She "could" tell factual stories about life in the ancient city of Venice, but inspired by Barbara Delinsky, Linda Howard and other romance writers, she chooses to create a small group of adventurous people who decide to settle in this watery city known through the centuries for lust, sex and "even" love.
