Barbara E. Hort

Barbara Hort, Ph.D., has maintained a private practice in Portland, Oregon for over 30 years, working primarily from the psychological perspective developed by the Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung. Most recently, Dr. Hort has collaborated with theater director Chris Coleman to develop the theatrical practice of psychodramaturgy, in which she provides material on the psychological dynamics of the play that can be used by its producing artists. In addition, Dr. Hort has served on the faculties of Reed College in Portland, Oregon and Washington State University in Vancouver, Washington, publishing numerous academic research articles in the fields of social and developmental psychology. She is the author of "Feeding Frenzy"; “Hollow Crown of Fire: A Discovery of Meaning in the Coronavirus Pandemic and its Predecessors” (2023) and “Unholy Hungers: Encountering the Psychic Vampire in Ourselves and Others” (1996).
