I have worked in social care for many years, including a period as Professional Advisor to the Prison Service on the placement and management of young people sentenced to long term custody for serious offences. I was Director of the Nurture Group Network for 5 years (2004-2008)and currently work as Director of Social Care for The Fostering Foundation, an independent fostering agency. I have written two books,Working with Young People in Secure Accommodation and How Nurture Protects Children.

A revised and updated second edition of Working with Young People in Secure Accommodation will be published in April 2014. This contains new material and reflections on the many changes that have taken place in youth justice and the provision of secure accommodation over the past 15 years.
