Scott E. Spradlin

Scott Spradlin, LPC, LMAC (KS) is the author of "Don't Let Your Emotions Run Your Life: How Dialectical Behavior Therapy Can Put You in Control" (New Harbinger, 2003). He presently practices at NorthStar Therapy, Wichita KS, with his wife, Mariah, providing comprehensive DBT, mindfulness-based therapy, and faith-based therapy services. Together, Scott and Mariah, a clinical social worker, have developed and delivered DBT-informed services for adults with ADHD, "Wise Mind for the Distracted Mind." Scott also provides training and workshops for professionals and the general public on topics related to DBT, BPD, ADHD, addictions, mindfulness and faith-based counseling

Scott completed his Master of Arts (1998) in Counseling at Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis. After relocating to Portland, OR, Scott began his training and practice in DBT at the Portland DBT Program, the first freestanding private outpatient DBT clinic in the United States, which is now known as the Portland DBT Institute. Here he discovered his love for DBT. He later completed DBT intensive training with Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., and Linda Dimeff, Ph.D., in Seattle, WA in 2000.

Over the years Scott has implemented DBT and DBT-informed treatments in community mental health settings, substance abuse treatment centers, hospital-based crisis services, and juvenile residential treatment facilities. He has been an adjunct instructor at Wichita State University in the counseling department teaching courses on DBT, cognitive-behavioral therapy and religion and spirituality in counseling and has provided continuing education seminars for mental health professionals both in his home state of Kansas, and nationally for PESI.
