James M. Honeycutt

James M. Honeycutt (Ph.D. University of Illinois) was born in Dallas, Texas and is a lecturer at the University of Texas at Dallas and LSU Distinguished Professor Emeritus. He has published several books and research publications. He diagnosed his own case of insulin-dependent diabetes at age 15, when he was dehydrated. He is internationally known for his work in relationship scripts, imagined interaction, personality, and cognition.His first book, “Imagined Interactions: Daydreaming about Communication” won the National Communication Association, Social Cognition Division, Distinguished Book Award. He is senior managing co-editor of Imagination, Cognition, and Personality with over ten books and numerous publications. He has presented at numerous international conferences in London, Montreal, Dresden, Sydney, and Singapore. His research and teaching interests are in conflict resolution, relational dynamics, small group and family dynamics, mental imagery (imagined interactions), personality, emotion, conflict resolution, and physiology related to task overload. His most recent book is, Promoting Mental Health through Imagery and Imagined Interactions (2019) published by Peter Lang.He is founder and of the LSU Matchbox Interaction Lab. Recent books include The Darkside of social media: Psychological, managerial, and societal perspectives; coauthored with Pavica Sheldon and Phillip Rauschnabel published by the Elsevier Academic Press.
