Heather Conn

Heather Conn, MFA is the author of two nonfiction history books and a children's fantasy tale. After creating her first stories at age five, she now works as a freelance writer/editor, blogger, screenwriter and writing instructor/coach in the Pacific Northwest. An avid traveler with a passion for sustainability, spirituality, and social justice issues, she has written for 50+ magazines and books, including The Globe and Mail, Canadian Geographic, The Vancouver Sun, and Sierra.

Heather coaches writers in diverse genres at all levels, from a film stuntwoman to an academic who teaches animation to a couples counselor with a PhD. She has taught many types of writing at the college level, both full-time and part-time. She has written for a CBC children's TV show, co-written two short dramas for Bravo! TV, and written, produced, and directed a 20-minute documentary on a First Nations organic garden project that's unique to Canada.

Heather has a master's degree in creative nonfiction writing from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. She has won writing awards from Southam Communications, Writers' Union of Canada, British Columbia Festival of Writers, and more. Find out more at heatherconn.com and heatherconnblogs.com.
