Russell A. Stultz

Russell Stultz is a prolific writer. Fifty-seven of his books have been published and distributed around the world. He has a talent for making complex topics in technology, software, finance, and even history understandable. This is why several of his books have been translated into as many as 18 languages.

Russ grew up in St. Petersburg, FL where he enjoyed camping on nearby coastal islands, boating, fishing, and several sports. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service as a radioman and sonar operator. Upon discharge, he worked in the electronics industry for several years, landing at Dallas-based Texas Instruments Incorporated as a technical writer. He attended evening college classes for eleven years at three different colleges, the last one being the University of Texas at Austin.

In the early 1980s, TI operated 54 plants in 27 countries. It was passing $8-billion in annual sales and adding 8,000 new managers per year. Top TI management asked Russ to research and write two international management books aimed at introducing company culture, management style, and company goals to the rapidly growing number of new managers. One book addressed manufacturing management; the other covered engineering management. These projects required travel to dozens of TI plants throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America.

Following the completion of these book projects, Russ began writing technical books for Prentice-Hall's College Textbook and Trade divisions. Based on the success of his books, Prentice-Hall awarded Russ a contract to design, write, produce, and manufacture a series of 48 student workbooks and teacher guides covering top-selling IBM PC software.

Russ left TI and founded Plano, Texas-based Wordware Publishing, Inc. where he served as President and CEO for 27 years. During that time, Wordware added three operating divisions: Wordware Computer Books, The Republic of Texas Press, and an Educational Software division.

Upon the sale of Wordware in 2009, Russ completed several formal courses in stocks, technical analysis, options, and futures. Upon completion of these courses, he founded the North Texas Investment Strategies Club, which merged with the Plano IBD Meetup group. Joint membership exceeds 400. Club members meet each month for presentations and advanced education covering a variety of trading topics, with emphasis on options and technical analysis.

Following the sale of his business, Russ returned to his passion for writing and wrote two options trading books: the top selling, 800+ page "The Only Options Trading Book You'll Ever Need" and "Master 76 Option Strategies," which includes a companion option strategy Excel workbook with 76 option strategy templates. The templates guide readers through scanning, analysis, entry, and trade outcomes using real-time market data.

Russ combines his talents for research and clear, concise writing style with a background in instructional design. These give him the unique ability to step his readers from basic understandings of complex topics all the way to the analysis and application levels of cognition.

His favorite book project was the carefully researched, 5-star rated historical novel entitled "Legions and Messiahs." This was his first attempt at historical fiction. It follows real people during the Roman occupation of Judea, rebellion, and closely follows Rome's politics, its legions, and siege warfare. Russ enjoyed researching and writing this book more than his technical books.

In addition to writing, teaching options, futures, technical analysis, and the use of computer-based trading platforms, Russ continues to enjoy fishing, shooting, reloading, and woodworking. He's also an avid golfer, regularly scoring in the 70s, and a certified advanced open water scuba diver. He lives in the Dallas, Texas area with his wife, Dianne.
