James Baar

James Baar is a writer of fiction and non-fiction, freelance journalist, lexicographer, blogger, international corporate communications consultant, corporate communications software developer, former business executive and Washington journalist and sometime college lecturer.

His latest short fiction, News Stories from the Choirs of Angels, is a second short story collection of 21 tales and two novellas marinated in satire and irony with intimations of a vast infinity. The News Stories follows Baar’s first short fiction collection, The Real Thing and Other Tales, 28 short stories categorized as Tales of Fog and Spin, Icy Water and Cold Turkey, Signs and Portents, and Epiphanies.

In his historical novel, Conversations at the Redwood: The Portraits Speak, some 60 of the historic dead emerge in the pre-dawn from their early American portraits to chat.

His non-fiction books include Trump Card: Holding America's Enemies at Bay, on the history and threat to US nuclear deterrence; also, But Wait! There's More! (maybe), coauthored with Donald E. Creamer, dissects chaos in the $500 billion global ad business.

Other books include two satirical business novels: Ultimate Severance, a spin-soaked excursion through an Enroned world featuring designer murder, and The Great Free Enterprise Gambit, an instructive story of a highly hostile mega-business takeover and related public affairs; also Spinspeak II: The Dictionary of Language Pollution; and four books on politics and technology covering the early years of the Cold War. Baar is the editor of The Spinspeak Letter, an online report dedicated to exposure of contemporary spin in its many insidious forms.
