Dean Oliver

Dean Oliver pioneered the basketball analytics movement with his 2004 book, Basketball on Paper, illustrating how to measure team and player performance. His second book, Basketball Beyond Paper, was about how to change performance, as based on his two decades of bring analytics to the NBA front office and coaching. He helped create ESPN’s sports analytics group in 2011 and has taken an active role in encouraging STEM through sports.
