Scott Temple, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry & Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa. He is a Founding Fellow in the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and is certified by the Academy as a CBT trainer and Consultant. He trained at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Research. He obtained his doctorate in clinical psychology at Temple University, and did his internship at the Upstate Medical Center of New York. He has done post-doctoral work in child and family assessment and therapy. He has published research in areas of youth violence and novel applications of Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
He has been involved in training community clinicians throughout the Midwest and the United States. He has served as Director of Psychosocial Treatments in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa, where he co-developed a DBT program for adolescents, among other clinical services. Dr. Temple has also written fiction and literary non-fiction. His work has been featured in The Best of the Bellevue Literary Review.
