John Wareham is a lecturer, writer and poet, whose work has been published by Scribners, Harpers, Macmillan and 'Indie' publishers Welcome Rain and Flatiron Press. Uniquely, he has dedicated his life to coaching corporate chiefs and teams, and maximum-security denizens. His latest work, 'Secrets of an Ageing Poet,' is a memoir that taps his experiences in both those worlds.
"If I'd not entered human resource consulting, I'd have been a full time writer," he says. "I wrote my first book to promote my firm. When it was nominated for a national award I got hooked on the process, and just kept on going. It was a treat to see my books become bestsellers.
"I'm especially honored by support for my poetry from the Poets & Writers and the New York State Council for the Arts. I'm also proud of my novels, 'The President's Therapist' and 'Chancey On Top', my schooldays memoir, 'Exposed', and my latest work, 'Secrets of an Ageing Poet.'
"The test of writing is credibility and a denouement that satisfies and surprises the reader, and critics say I consistently reached that lofty plateau. I just have to confess that, even to me, the endings in all my works came as shockers."
John also created and hosts 'The Breakout Plan', a podcast series with worldwide listeners. He is founder and chair of The Eagles Circle Foundation, Incorporated, a registered New York non-profit organization dedicated to developing community leaders from within the prison population. A Kiwi-American, he splits his time between America and New Zealand.
