Ralph Ryan

Ralph Ryan was born into a military family and extensively traveled the United States and Europe all his life. After graduating from Berlin American High School in 1972, he attended Antelope Valley college and acquired an AA degree in Forestry while fighting fires on Engines and initial attack helicopter crew 7-Charlie on the Angeles National Forest. In 1977, he was accepted into the California Smokejumper program and jumped from Redding, California until 1985. In 1986, he joined the BLM smokejumpers and jumped one year out of Alaska. In 1988, he worked for the City of Redding's parks and water department until his retirement in 2012. He has been writing for 20 years and recently published his wild land firefighting memoir titled: WILDFIRE. He's almost completed a fiction works titled: The Crossroads, A Journey of Discovery, and Cold War, a spy novel. He currently resides in the house he built on a mountain top overlooking Shasta Lake.
