Edie Clark

Edie Clark (1948- )was born and raised in northern New Jersey, educated in Philadelphia, where, after college, she worked for three years as a book editor. The first book she worked on was Frank Hebert's epic sci-fi novel, DUNE. In 1973 she moved with her first husband to Vermont where they sought to live an energy self-sufficient life. Eventually that led to work writing for Yankee magazine (her first article was about Abby Rockefeller and her composting toilets). She has now written hundreds of essays and articles for Yankee, including five multiple part series. In the midst of that, Random House published her memoir, THE PLACE HE MADE, about her second husband's struggle with and death from cancer. This was her first of five books, now published under the imprint Benjamin Mason Books. She writes now from a place known locally as Mary's Farm, a hay farm in southwest New Hampshire. Her most recent book is STATES OF GRACE: ENCOUNTERS WITH REAL YANKEES.
