Marti Healy

Marti Healy is the author of six hardcover books and three softcover. A copywriter for more than three decades, and newspaper columnist since 2004, Marti has received numerous industry writing awards. The majority of her professional career was spent with a communications firm in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she was senior writer and Vice President of the firm.

Beginning in 2008, Marti has devoted her time almost exclusively to various personal writing projects, including several new books that are in different stages of development.

She is a popular speaker on the topics of her books as well as her writing career, and enjoys meeting with book clubs, churches, and other organizations. She has appeared on numerous daytime television shows in the southeastern area, and has served on panels and as a featured speaker at regional book festivals.

Marti is active in her local church and community, and continues to write a regular column for area newspapers and lifestyle magazines, which are syndicated by various publications around the country.

She currently shares her home with a happy assortment of dogs and cats.

THE RHYTHM OF SELBY is "a gently mysterious novel of the South," set in the fictitious town of Selby, South Carolina. A hardcover edition, it won a Bronze medal for Popular Fiction from the Independent Publishers Awards, and well as two Indie Awards for writing and design. This book is a very lyrically written work, with a strong sense of place created through vivid descriptions and memorable incidents and characters.

THE SECRET CHILD is Marti's first entry into the genre of Fantasy/Fiction, and was selected as an "Okra Pick" by the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA). Like all of her books, this novel is a very lyrical work, written to weave the reader into the story with descriptions that transport one from one reality to the next and back again. This beautiful hardcover book was inspired by a true story about an unknown little boy's grave dated 1855.

BLINDING THE MOON is Marti's most recent novel, and is a softcover, limited edition release. it is structured around the highly fictionalized life experiences of two of the author's friends: singer Chad Mitchell and photographer/storytelling Dale Wickum. It is a literary fiction of a man's coming to terms with this childhood and his manhood, told in flashbacks and lyrical narrative.

BREATHINGS: TINY STORIES FOR THE THIN PLACES OF YOUR HEART is a collection of Marti's popular newspaper and magazine columns. Beautifully designed and bound in hard cover, it contains 61 short essays that are gentle, uplifting stories, touching hearts and reassuring the human spirit - like having a quiet conversation with an old friend.

THE CHILDORNOT TALES was Marti's first foray into a new genre - a book that was written for the child in all of us. It was recently recognized with a finalist designation from the Indie Next Generation Awards.
