Roger Canfield

Dr. Canfield is a founding member of Vietnam Veterans for a Factual History, VVFH.org. Son of a Minnesota sailor and an Indiana farm girl Roger Canfield was born in Long Beach, California and raised in southern Indiana, northern Indiana, and all over California from San Diego to Norwalk and lived thereafter in San Mateo and Sacramento. Like his father, he served in the U. S. Navy as an aviation electronics technician working on missiles and Phantom, F4B, jets.

He traveled widely as a young man hitchhiking across the USA and northern Europe and as a travel writer in Israel, Jordan, Philippines, Macau, Vietnam and Cambodia for International Travel News.

After serving in the Navy (1959-1964), Canfield “fought the Vietnam War on campus and in the California Legislature.”

He earned a PhD degree in Government from the Claremont Graduate School. He was Assistant Professor at the MPA program at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.

Thereafter: the civilian Commander of the Technical Services Division of the San Mateo Police Department; twice Republican nominee for the U.S. Congress; Chief of Staff, Press Secretary and Policy Consultant for California State Senators and Assemblymen; a daily political columnist, “Under the Dome,” for the Sacramento Union; and executive director of the U.S. Intelligence Council, a private public policy group.

He has researched, observed and written on civil disorder, California politics, international travel, and China as well as Vietnam. He wrote four books on the political influence and intelligence operations of China inside the USA, China Doll (with Richard Delgaudio, 2000), Stealth Invasion (2002), China Traders (2000), and China’s Trojan Horses (2002) with 2 million copies in circulation.
