Mark R. Horowitz is an English historian, business executive and marketing consultant, author, educator and news commentator. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (FRHistS). He has authored scholarly articles and given academic papers in the U.S., England, Portugal and Ireland. He has written more than 500 articles and scripts as a weekly international columnist for UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL; Guest columnist for USA TODAY; weekly radio commentator for an NBC affiliate in Chicago; and OP-Ed contributor to newspapers. These news commentaries look at everything occurring today from the perspective of the lat 5,000 years of history.

He taught an upper level university course, THE TUDOR KINGS, at the University of Illinois (Chicago) as a Visiting Professor. He also created a presentation for universities and the public based on a murder he solved that took place 500 year years ago: "A Murder in Tudor England!" (There are 12 suspects, from the lowest class of society to the king of England!) His book "STONEHENGE TO STAR WARS: Discovering the Present by Exploring the Past", compares the events and challenges of today with those of the past. He was the Guest Editor of a special volume of Historical Research entitled "WHO WAS HENRY VII?", for which he chose the scholars on both sides of the Atlantic and wrote the Introduction and two of the articles. It was published on the 500th anniversary of the death of the first Tudor king and became the journal's best-selling volume in its 90-year history. Mark's collection of brass rubbings created from English tomb effigies dated from 1277 to 1631 toured the U.S. and now resides at the Spurlock Museum. His latest book is "DARING DYNASTY: Custom, Conflict and Control in Early-Tudor England" (2018).

While continuously pursuing historical research, writing and publishing, he has been a senior executive at an international marketing/public relations firm, part of a $15 billion global conglomerate of advertising and marketing companies. He works with state governments on 21st century educational concepts based on marketing processes he has trademarked, as well as driver education and traffic safety programs to help reduce a leading cause of injury and death, especially among young people: vehicle crashes. He has consulted for companies and non-profits in a variety of areas. Mark earned his BA from Tulane University, his MA from the University of Illinois (Chicago) and his PhD from the University of Chicago. He enjoys creating stories, travel, teaching, pubs, photography, historical research and writing, and snooping around old churches, castles and Neolithic ruins.
