Ellen Welch

Dr Ellen Welch is a GP, medical writer and award-winning author. Over the past two decades she has combined NHS general practice with a diverse international medical career, working as a ski field doctor in New Zealand, an expedition medic on Mount Kilimanjaro and a senior cruise ship doctor for more than ten years.

Ellen is the author of several books, including Why Can't I See My GP?, How the NHS Coped with Covid-19 and The NHS: The Story So Far. Her publications have received awards from both the British Medical Association (BMA) and the Medical Journalists' Association (MJA).

Alongside clinical practice, she writes and comments on healthcare for national media, and is past Co-chair of the Doctors' Association UK.
