I am a writer of mystery for girls, youth, adult women and men, and a series of self-help books about "How to Open a Designer Pie Shop", "How to Open a Designer Sandwich, Soup, and Salad Shop", and "How to Open a Designer Cookie Shop", all crafted for simple operation by only two people.
I'm an avid learner of subjects that fire my imagination. In more than twenty-five years managing small hotels, motels, and restaurants I absorbed a huge amount of information about the lodging and food industries, but especially about human behavior. This extensive experience provides me with a rich and authentic pool of information when writing small hotel mystery and suspense books based upon my character, Eva Wynn-Rogers, a woman of undetermined age, "Where's Carmine", a -300 page mystery in three parts about kids that take care of themselves, (leading to them getting in trouble with both the FBI and the Mafia). I have two "Annika at Wilderness Hotel" finished. These are clean, power enabling books for young girls.
During my career in hospitality and restaurant management I wrote restaurant newspaper food columns, advertising, and employee manuals. Employed for two-years as secretary for a real estate company, I wrote successful real estate advertising.
I've written since childhood. I'd occasionally dream a marvelous poem, and, in my sleep, get up out of bed to write the poem on my tablet. In the morning I'd find nothing but scratches and scrawls on the page. Now my poetry is written while awake. It is bittersweet, tragic and profoundly personal.
I taught myself to write screenplays as an exercise to learn placing my characters in the now. I've scripted four as practice.
I wrote articles for a foreign fiber arts magazine (Echoes), and one local edition of a travel magazine, (Travel Host).
In 2008, the first book of my series for women of undetermined age, "The Eva Wynn-Roger's Small Hotel's Mysteries - The Lodge of The Four Winds", was completed. In 2009, I wrote the second in the "Eva" series, "Eva Wynn-Rogers Small Hotel's Mysteries - A Wedding Cruise On The Blue Moon. The third, "Eva Wynn-Roger's Small Hotel's Mysteries - The Spirit In The Garden", is slated for completion this year, 2013.
I am a tapestry artist. I handweave a tapestry to use as the image for each of my book covers.
I was another sort of fiber artist in the past. I designed with a needle felting technique that I developed. My article describing this was featured in "The Journal Of The International Feltmakers Association" magazine originating in the UK and sold in many countries. I designed and wove textile art on a sixteen-harness loom for twelve years.
I'm self-published and proud of the freeing-kind of writing existence.
