Herstine Wright

Dr. Herstine Wright was born in a small southern town in Mississippi, known for its rich heritage and founded by ex-slaves, to sharecroppers. In 1965, her family migrated to Chicago, IL, where she attended and graduated from the Chicago Public Schools. For 34 years, she was employed as an educator. Thirty-two of those years she worked in the community colleges in Illinois teaching Business Education and English courses. After a long career, she was acknowledged for her excellence in Education and other civic duties. Upon her retirement in 2009, she received honorable notable recognition from the City Council of Chicago by Alderman Carrie Austin. She also worked as a part-time employee at the Chicago Sun-Times Newspaper and retired after 20 years of service. She is the Co-founder of Advocates of Change/OPIB and S.A.L.T.E.D (Saving A Life To End Destruction), non-profit organizations. She has authored eight (8) powerful books that are distributed around the world. She is also the recipient of the prestigious M3:16 Magazine Community Excellence Award for her exemplary work in the community.
