Raj Barr-Kumar

Raj Barr-Kumar is an architect and urban designer, and president of BARR Group International LLC, based in Washington, D.C. Internationally renowned for his environmentally sensitive designs, he has practiced throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

1997 National President of the American Institute of Architects, he has served as a keynote speaker at international professional symposia, and has lectured widely at universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, London and Hong Kong. A graduate of the University of Ceylon, he earned post-graduate degrees from the Universities of London, Kansas and Hawaii.

The recipient of many design awards, he is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a Corporate Member of the Royal Institute of Architects. His many contributions to the profession have been recognized by elevation to Fellow of the architectural institutes of Japan, Canada, the Philippines, Bahamas, Mexico and the Pan-American Federation of Architectural Associations.
