Don LePan

Don LePan's published work includes the novels Animals (2009), Rising Stories (2015), and Lucy and Bonbon (2022), as well as numerous books of non-fiction. LePan has spent most of his adult life working as a book publisher; he is the founder and CEO of the academic publishing house Broadview Press. LePan is also a painter (a solo exhibition of his work was held in Brooklyn in 2008). Born in Washington, DC and raised in Ontario, LePan holds degrees from Carleton University (BA), Sussex University (MA), and Trent University (an honorary doctorate). He spent many years as a resident of Calgary, Alberta, and has lived for briefer periods in New Orleans, Louisiana; Lewes, Sussex; and Murewa, Zimbabwe. Since 2009 his home has been Nanaimo (on Vancouver Island, British Columbia).
