Darrell G. Yardley

Darrell G. Yardley, PhD, LPC, is a licensed professional counselor (semi-retired), life coach, Professor Emeritus of Zoology at Clemson University. A retired mental health educator specializing in the neurobiology and genetics of indigenous healing traditions. In addition to his current book, The Guru on the Mountain: Chiggers, Lizards & Desert Heat: My Vision Quest to Discover the Source of Spirit, he is also author of WindWalker: Journey into Science, Self, and Spirit, and numerous professional papers in evolutionary genetics. His current private counseling practice specializes in equine-assisted psychotherapy for teens. His life coaching practice specializes in parenting troubled teens and in personal and spiritual growth. As an urban hermit, he spends his time writing, gardening, bicycling, cooking, and other activities that promote self-sufficiency, self-reliance, simplicity, mindfulness, and eco-responsibility.
