Joel Barlow

Thought and feeling largely context induced, wide variety in experience liberates, as it alienates. To be defined, known, trusted, is desirable, constraining and neither &/or both. "I am" is pretention; "I can" is too, but less so (if true). We want to be seen, outside the box, but private, uncompromised. Instead we are hidebound, inflexible, too often bored. The same old is old, and as antidote to that, I place these offerings, to share, as we are meant to do.

From a long line of Ohio Barlows, Joel has lived in the Golden Triangle for decades, and written a lot about that. His wife, NaSue, is Lahu, a matriarchal tribe, and originally from a fiefdom near KengTung, Myanmar. The family uses Thai language. Joel taught Thai social studies in Chiang Rai, and long ago sold ethnographic art in Columbus, Ohio. He blogs through blogspot at chianghaimag and mythorelics.
