I started writing children's books about 7 years ago with my first book "My Grandma Could do Anything". I felt it would be a fun addition to my childrens line of apparel, Jibber Jabbers. Also, who doesn't want to give writing a childrens book a try sometime in their life? The process was more fun than I imagined. Just thinking about what crazy situations to put Grandma (or Dad) in was a blast. I also had the help of some talented artists to help put the finishing touches on my art.
My humor was cultivated in upstate New York where, with family and friends, you joke around to get around. I'm very grateful for that upbringing. I've parleyed that humor into my apparel line as well as my books. Humor has been an important gift for me both professionally and personally.
I love to be active, playing tennis, skiing, hiking and biking. I usually have my Grandma character do these in the extreme (ski black diamonds, rock climb). These are actually not too much of a stretch, Grandmas these days do these things anyway. Bungee Jumping, not so sure about.
I love writing books and hope to write many more. I never imagined I'd have over 80,000 books in print at this stage. The best compliments I get are when a parent or relative of a child says it's their "favorite book". That's good enough for me.
