Daniel X. O'Neil

Daniel X. O'Neil is a poet, playwright, essayist, and art critic.

From the 1980s through 2003, his focus was American Performance Poetry, publishing four volumes of poems, essays, and verse dramas while touring the United States with various musician sets.

He has edited, written, and contributed to a number of books on civic tech and community engagement, including CUTGroup, which describes a community-centered methodology for user testing that he invented while leading the Smart Chicago Collaborative.

Since 2019, he and his wife, Shawn-Laree O'Neil, have created books about street art, including the genre of Arte Agora—art made, sold, or placed outside.
