Michael Wm McColl

Author & travel expert Michael McColl first caught the travel bug during a year spent (nominally) studying at the University of Barcelona.

Soon thereafter, an attempt to get back to Europe on a shoestring inspired McColl's first book, "The Worldwide Guide to Cheap Airfares." He was a founding writer of Fodor's budget travel series, the upCLOSE guides.

His work has been published in Biztravel.com's "Executive Getaways", Student Traveler, Trips magazine, Earth Island Journal, Extreme Adventures: Northern California, and in the travel anthology "In Search of Adventure."

He has appeared on TV and radio shows nationwide, and has been quoted in publications ranging from Maxim magazine to Investor's Business Daily.

He is a co-founder of Ethical Traveler, an alliance of travelers dedicated to making the world a better place. McColl is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. He has visited over 50 countries on 7 continents.
