Wendy Sibbison

I'm Wendy Sibbison. I was born in Ohio, grew up in Northern Virginia, and had a lot of higher education in various places. I live in Western Massachusetts, where I practiced law for 35 years. Now I've written this novel.

Helen's story is loosely based on events of my own life when I was in high school. When I say "loosely based," I mean that about three pages of the book actually happened that way.

Helen in Trouble is about what it was like in 1963 to be a particular 16-year-old girl trapped in a pregnant body, with no safe or legal way out. I wrote this book because I was interested in her dilemma and in the ways she and the people around her would respond. Now, almost 60 years later, while Roe v. Wade is still the law of the land, an enraging number of women of all ages, colors and income groups are still trapped like Helen. I fear what lies ahead. Please visit https://www.helenintrouble.com.
