Alison Hicks is a writer of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction living in Havertown, PA. She is founder and director of Greater Philadelphia Wordshop Studio, which offers community-based writing workshops in the Philadelphia, PA area. Her work has appeared numerous literary journals, including Broad River Review, Crack the Spine, Eclipse, Fifth Wednesday, Gargoyle, Green Hills Literary Lantern, Louisville Review, Passager, Permafrost, Sanskrit, Whiskey Island, and Blood Orange Review. Her books of poetry include Kiss and Falling Dreams. She is also author of a novella, Love: A Story of Images, and the co-editor of an anthology, Prompted. Her new book of poems, You Who took the Boat Out, is due out in March, 2017 from Unsolicited Press. She has presented at AWP (Associated Writers & Writing Programs) conferences and the The Philadelphia Writers Conference. She holds an MFA from the University of Arizona, and received her undergraduate degree Summa Cum Laude from Bryn Mawr College. She enjoys camping and canoeing with her husband and son, and walking their Treeing Walker Coonhound, Cooper. Recently, after a 30-year hiatus, she has resumed playing the cello and enjoys playing with her violist son.
