Barbara Scheiber

Barbara Scheiber is an award-winning author of books and short fiction. Her novel, We'll Go to Coney Island, was recently published by Sowilo Press. As an advocate for the rights of disabled people, she wrote two nonfiction books: Fulfilling Dreams: A Handbook for Parents of People with Williams Syndrome, and Unlocking Potential: College and Other Choices for Learning Disabled People. Her short stories have been published in publications including the Antietam Review, Whetstone, and Oasis Journal, and she has won numerous Best Fiction awards, a fellowship from the Maryland Arts Council, and nomination for a Pushcart Prize. Over a long career, Barbara Scheiber has worked as a writer for United Press Radio, a radio producer for NBC, and director of Closer Look, an information center for disabled individuals.
