Hahn's five books are "The Ocean Bards: British Poetry and the War at Sea, 1793-1815," "The Country Myth: Motifs in the British Novel," "The Eighteenth-Century British Novel and Its Background," "Henry Fielding: An Annotated Bibliography," and "Towson: A Pictorial History of a Maryland Town."

In its review of "The Ocean Bards," "SEL: Studies in English Literature, 1500-1900" 49.3 (Summer 2009) said that "Hahn's research and reading seem encyclopedic" and called it a "major book on poetry." "The Eighteenth-Century Intelligencer" (Fall 2009)said that Hahn makes his points "authoritatively" and that "this very readable work....belongs in university libraries."

Dr. Hahn is also author of many scholarly articles in distinguished journals such as "Philological Quarterly," "Anglia," "Papers on Language & Literature," "British Studies Monitor," "War, Literature & the Arts," and "The Southern Quarterly."

He has also published over 70 op-ed columns in metro dailies such as "The Atlanta Constitution," "The Baltimore Sun," "The Cleveland Plain Dealer," "The Manchester Union-Leader," "The Washington Times," and "The Chronicle of Higher Education."

A literary historian, Hahn teaches undergraduate courses in 18th-century British literature; the "Beowulf to Virginia Woolf" 6-credit sophomore survey of English literature; Literary Research and Criticism; and Writing Argument. He chairs graduate seminars in War in Literature and Rhetoric.

His awards include the Emmart Award for Writing About the Humanities, the Mackie Award for his editing of "All Ahead Full" of the Navy League, and a 1998 citation by "The Masthead: Quarterly Journal of the National Conference of Editorial Writers" for having written one of the best op-ed columns of the preceding ten years. In 2002 Hahn was named and featured as one of three "extraordinary [Maryland] college professors" by "The Baltimore Sun."
